Monkelympics 21st-26th of July

Come test your primate abilities at Beale Park this summer. Can you judge distances, solve problems, stand upright, use tools, work as a team, communicate, sort things into groups, match colours or swing through the trees as well as your primate relatives?

At a collection after Meeting for Worship on the 27th of May Reading Friends generously donated £170 to the running of MASC. Particular thanks go to Paul Kingston and the Heidemans for their generous donations

MASC gets prestigious PSGB funding!

MASC has been selected with three other projects to recieve the PSGB (Primate Society of Great Britain) Conservation Working Party Grant this year. This is to help develop the new piece about pet trade and take it to Morocco.

Monkey Biscuits at Beale Park 13th-15th February

Joy Iliff, 2011It's that time of year again, Beale Park is re-opening to the public on the 10th and we will be in the Beale Centre running the popular Monkey Biscuits event again.

Come join us and decorate a primate biscuit, make a primate mask and colour-in a picture of a squirrel monkey all for just £3!

MASC is going to Morocco!

BMCRif (Barbary Macaque Conservation in the Rif) is a primate conservation charity based in Morocco. They have asked MASC to be involved. We are developing the piece at the moment and will be taking it roduce a new piece of theatre to take to Morocco to teach local people about the devastating impact that the trade in Barbary macaques as pets has on the populations and into Morocco in late September/October 2012. Watch this space for more news and photos as the project develops.

MEPs Vote to label vegetable oil by 2015!

The campaign to clearly label palm oil in proucts in the EU has paid off. Well done one and all.

Reading Friends Meeting House supports MASC

MASC would like to extend a big thank you to FMH in Reading for supporting us with their generous grant. We will be reporting back to them in a year and look forward to running some workshops for the children of the Meeting soon.

BEALE PARK: October half-term showsJoy Iliff, 2011

25th–27th October

For those living in the Reading area MASC will be at Beale Park near Pangbourne over the October half-term. We will be performing our panto-style play that teaches about conservation. Afterwards we will be running around like monkeys with tails and playing ‘Simian Says’ for anyone who wants to join in.
