One week until Morocco
It's one week to go until we are off to Morocco. The production is pretty much
finished, we are just trying to figure out how to pack it all down so that
we can get it over there. There will be photos on our Facebook group and/or
page while we are there and full information when we get back in May. Thanks
again to Reading Friends' Meeting House, Alto Lounge, Wild Futures, PSGB and of course BMCRif for making this all possible and to Hellen and Christine for offering their expertise.
Aldenham Park 4th April
MASC will be filming two performances of Save Your Last Rolo-way on the 4th of April at Aldenham Country Park at 12pm and 2pm if you are local, fancy a great day out at the park and can be rowdy for the filming!
Morocco
It's official that Aoife and Joy are representing MASC in Morocco. We are flying
out on the 29th of April and going to spend two weeks teaching a local
theatre group to do Teshta the Monkey and get the show up and running. They are then going to keep doing the show
for the next few years and we will do the British version here as much
as we can.
Future collaborations
We are pleased to announce that we will be collaborating with both Bonobo Conservation Initiative UK and Little Fireface Project this year. Watch this space for development updates after we have come back from Morocco in May.
Second colouring in competition
We ran another colouring in competition at the Alto Lounge and we announced the
joint winners of Alfie and Harry. We had three runners-up, Lucy, Jack and
Sophia. Prizes of sock monkeys for the winners and badges and bags for
the runner-ups are winging their way to our winners. Here are the two winning
entries. We really enjoyed judging
them again. We chose Alfie's because he had added extra leaves to the drawing
which we really liked and had chosen great colours for his squirrel monkey
and we loved the colours and how neatly Harry coloured his.
Thank you to everyone for entering. See more of people's entries in our art gallery.
Beale Park dates 2013
This year we will be going to Beale Park again. Once on the 27th and 28th of
July to do the popular Monkey Athletics (formerly Monkelympics), once
on the 31st of August and 1st of September to do Monkey Biscuits and some
other games and finally over Halloween for the long-awaited Spooky Monkeys
event that we had to cancel last year. Hope to people there!
Reading Friends come through again!
After another collection at Meeting MASC has come home with a MASSIVE £316.98 donation towards going to Morocco. This money will go towards props, set, costume and getting me and Aoife out there and stuff. Once again the generosity of Reading Friends not only with their money but their kind words has truly touched me. Thank you all.
Alto Lounge
A massive thanks to the Alto Lounge for our great pub quiz and run of monkey biscuits. We made money towards going to Morocco and sneekily educated a few people about primates! All the staff were very welcoming and helpful, thanks to everyone and as soon as I am off my diet I am coming in for some chips!
Muna goes to Cornwall
Last September MASC went down to Cornwall to perform the double bill (Muna the Monkey and Save Your Last Rolo-way) at the Monkey Sanctuary run by Wild Futures. We had a great time and raised some awareness of palm oil and primates as pets. We are hoping to go back down there in March 2013.
